The Beatles were the most popular pop/rock music band in the twentieth century. Formed in Liverpool, England in 1960.  There was John Lennon, the founder of the Beatles. Paul McCartney is an English singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and a composer. George Harrison is a guitarist, singer/songwriter that achieved international fame. Ringo Starr is a drummer, singer/songwriter and an actor that gained worldwide fame. They have their own personalities which defined Sixties style: Smart, playful, irreverent, eclectic, and idealistic.The Beatles were originally called The Quarrymen, formed in 1956. After the name Quarrymen, they became Johnny and the Moondogs. Lastly, they called themselves The Silver Beatles, and simply, The Beatles. Throughout the name change, two people on the team left and got replaced. The bass player, Stu Sutcliffe left, McCartney took over the bass. The drummer, Pete Best left the group, and a sad-eyed drummer named Richard Starkey, known as Ringo Starr took over the drum. One of the record shop manager named Brian Epstein became their manager, and The Beatles gained a recording contract from George Martin, the Electric and Musical Industries (EMI) Records producer.Their first success was “Please Please Me” released on January 12, 1963, in Britain, and it was an immediate hit. The United States wasn’t interested in The Beatles until the EMI company in the United States named Capitol Records, launched a fifty thousand dollar promotional campaign. The Beatles opened a performance on The Ed Sullivan Show. It was the most popular entertainment show on the tv at that time. The Beatles were given nicknames like “The Fab Four” and “The Mop Tops” because of their hairstyles. The Fans of them was called the Beatlemania. In 1964, they started to film movies like A Hard Day’s Night that talked about a day in the life of The Beatles, and Help foolish fantasy. The fans of the Beatles loved it.The Beatles received a total of 22 awards. They received Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2014. Grammy Hall Of Fame in 2011. Billboard Music Award for Top Billboard 200 Album in 2001. World Music Award for World’s Best Selling British Artist in 2001, etc.The reason that The Beatles was remembered until now is that lots of people love them and their songs. The Beatles’ break up shocked everyone around the world. In 1966, the Beatles stopped touring, and they give their last concert in August at San Francisco’s Candlestick Park. They continued to record together but taking their music in new directions. John Lennon was killed by a crazed fan named Mark David Chapman on December 8, 1980. Overall, The Beatles was a very successful music band.
