Fossil are creating air pollution which is the

Fossil fuels are slowly destroying our ecosystem. They are creating air pollution which is the main cause of global warming. It will take a very long time for people to change from using fossil fuels to using renewable energy. Ultimately this will lead to a buildup of pollution in the atmosphere. The Kyoto Protocol was established to prevent this from happening. The Kyoto Protocol is an agreement in which many of the world’s industrial nations agreed to cut down on their usage of greenhouse gases to stop global warming. It was established on December 11th, 1997 and became effective on February 16th, 2005 (E.P.A). Over 150 countries signed the Kyoto Protocol. The Kyoto Protocol requires countries to cut air pollution in order to fix the Greenhouse Effect. The Greenhouse effect is the warming of Earth due to the buildup of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.  Although there are many countries that are a part of the Kyoto Protocol, the United States is not, due to its high cost. Many countries have already started to cut down on fossil fuels. Instead, they started using geothermal and hydroelectric power plants as a source of energy. There are many other renewable energy sources but scientists predicted that one-third of the world’s electricity will run on wind by the year 2050. Many wind farms have already started emerging in the U.S and the rest of the world. There are many organizations that are trying to achieve this goal including Greenpeace and The Worldwatch Institute (Appleby 407).Greenpeace is a non-governmental organization that protests to try to expose environmental problems that are ruining our planet. They began in 1971 when a small group of people went to protest U.S. nuclear testing off the coast of Alaska.  Greenpeace has grown since then and has offices in over 50 countries. They have many different programs but I am going to discuss their program for fighting global warming (About). We have seen many major catastrophes that are connected to climate-change such as major floods, wildfires, and hurricanes. Greenpeace believes that Donald Trump is denying that there is any climate change and that he is still drilling and mining for unstable fuels. They want to build a future that runs completely on renewable energy. They hope to achieve this by campaigning to keep many fossil fuels in the ground. By doing this they hope to achieve a United states run completely by renewable energy (Fighting Global Warming). The Worldwatch Institute uses research and outreach to try and create a sustainable world for mankind. It was created in 1974 by Lester Brown as an independent research institute dedicated to deal with global environmental concerns (mission). They would like to build a “low carbon future” which in turn means an electricity based economy. They believe that an energy revolution is coming and that it’s going to be as important, and as revolutionary, as the discovery of oil. They have two other programs as well. One is for Food and Agriculture and one is for the Environment and Society. Their program for Food and Agriculture tries to highlight the benefits for farmers, customers, and environments that can help the food grow and make it accessible to support many people. Their program called Environment And Society tries to see how humans can make less of a negative impact and possibly a positive impact on the environment that we live in (Program Areas). There are many similarities between these two organizations. They are both trying to maintain a sustainable world by spreading new ideas and trying to get volunteers to join. They are also both trying to cut down on fossil fuels so we can have a future that is fully run by renewable energy. Thirdly, they are both trying to make farming better for the environment and healthier for mankind. In these ways, they are trying to achieve the kyoto protocol by initiating different programs to help the environment. If I had to choose one of  these organizations to donate to I would choose Worldwatch Institute. I would choose this because I feel that they are doing more to sustain the environment. This is very important because in order for the world to sustain their human population of over 7.6 billion people they have to be able to produce enough food and resources for all of these people. Another reason why I would choose to donate to the Worldwatch Institute is because they are trying to decarbonize the environment to make the air less polluted. These are the reasons why I  believe in Worldwatch’s mission and why I would choose to donate to them over Greenpeace (Program Areas). Many of the world’s industrial nations agreed to cut down on their usage of greenhouse gases to stop global warming in the Kyoto protocol. One of the organizations that help fulfill the requirements of the Kyoto Protocol is Greenpeace. Greenpeace is a non-governmental organization that’s mission is to expose environmental problems that are ruining our planet. Another organization that is helping fulfill the requirements of the Kyoto Protocol is The Worldwatch Institute. The Worldwatch Institute uses research and outreach to try and create a sustainable world for humanity. There’re are many similarities between Greenpeace and Worldwatch. They are both trying to maintain a sustainable world,  cut down on fossil fuels, and make farming better and healthier for mankind. They are doing these things to improve our quality of life. If I needed to choose between donating to Worldwatch or Greenpeace, I would donate to Worldwatch. I would donate to Worldwatch since I believe they are doing more to sustain the environment. Hopefully the goals of the Kyoto Protocol will be achieved through these methods.
